Current Government Shutdown Public Entitlement Program UpdatesAs of October 29, 2025
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025,
has resulted in a lapse in federal funding for SNAP benefits.
The Food and Nutrition Services of the U.S. Department of Agriculture informed states
that November SNAP benefits may not be available on time for both new and existing cases.
However, SNAP benefits loaded to EBT cards prior to October 31, 2025,should still be accessible for use.
Because November SNAP benefits are not available due to the federal shutdown,
fair hearings will not be scheduled for this issue alone.
Applications and recertifications for SNAP benefits will still be processed
during the shutdown. SNAP recipients should continue to report any changes
to their cases and submit the necessary documents for recertifications
and new applications to receive benefits once federal SNAP funding resumes.
